What is" Dude, Where's MY Chest?" All About?
It has come to our attention that there is misinformation being spread around the community by some very misinformed folks about this initiative and we would like to take a minute to clear it up.
What is DWMC?
"Dude, Where's My Chest' is the collective effort between four local Transmen ( Orion Blaze Browne, Robin Banks, Shaneful Desires and Johnny Valiant ) to raise funds for their respective chest surgeries. Chest surgery will cost an average of $6,000.00 for each of them. Each of these participants are employed, however without insurance that will cover this very important surgery. This fundraiser will go for a full year and will be supported by 5 seperate benefits at HMH's shows ( one lead by each participant and one done all together) and all proceeds raised will be split evenly between the four guys in October 2014.
How is HMH involved?
Those of you who are familiar with HMH know that we do a monthly fundraiser for a local group or organization or good cause of our choosing. These benefits are in the form of raffle baskets, 50/50's and sometimes jello shots. These benefits NEVER take from the door, require other performers to give up their tips nor do we require our featured performers to give up their pay, with some small exceptions. ( EX. Red Ball, the troupe decided that for the special group number we are doing, all tips for that number only will be given to ALPHA, this however is a special circumstance.)
We do not force folks that attend our shows to automatically support anyone's chest surgeries or ANY other causes we may choose to focus on for a given monthly benefit. Anyone that is saying that is sadly misinformed and spreading rumors that are detrimental not only to the fundraiser and to the participants personally but to our troupe as a whole. Please feel free to point them to this blog post if you hear anyone spreading anything of this nature.
Will the only benefits for DWMC occur at HMH's shows?
No. While this idea was initiated originally by HMH members, we will be doing other things to help raise money for this cause. When and how and who this is with is up to this years participants. There is also a gofundme account if you or anyone you know feels so moved as to support the guys in their quests for new chests.
This years participants? Does this mean you will be doing it again?
YES! There will be forms sent out to the community around Jan. for folks to submit for considerations for DWMC 2014-2015. The current recipients of this fundraiser will choose the next round of folks.
